A weekly podcast about black girls being intelligent, loving, ambitious, funny, artistic, angry, joyful, and everything in between. Black Girls Being is curated by Amira and Sophia to accentuate and celebrate the multifaceted lives of young black women in America.




Amira is a freelance writer, content creator and entrepreneur. Over the years she has contributed material to several US and international publications. Her content primarily focuses on fashion, travel, music, literature and social justice. Amira is currently pursuing a Master of Philosophy in African Studies at University of Cape Town.

Sophia is currently senior at New York University pursuing a career in television. She has previously worked in graphic design and media marketing for a series of different media outlets. Sophia writes short stories, creative non-fiction essays, and poetry in her free time and makes both digital and mixed media collages.
